I am not the sole-creator of these paintings. The paints, colors, and mediums are my co-creators. I am simply an enabler. The paints and canvases have a life of their own and I create the environment for them to act as they please. I am not in complete control of the outcome. Before I start my next painting, I have no idea how it will turn out by the time it is done and dry. This is part of the thrill of my painting style. As a film director, part of my job is to be an enabler. One of my functions is to allow the experts and elements of a film shine - just like what I do as a painter.
I started to get back into painting when I felt stuck, unhappy, overwhelmed, and unfulfilled with my day-to-day life. Painting is self-compassion. It saved me. My paintings are unfiltered reactions to situations I go through in my life. Because I don't confine myself to a specific outcome for my work, I give my true self the freedom to be whatever it wants to be.
